Soaked Guavas with Dried Sour Plums


  • 2 Thai guavas
  • 1 apple
  • 30 dried sour plums
  • Sugar
  • Salt
  • Japanese plum wine


  1. Infuse dried sour plums in 2 cups of boiling water. Cover with lid and soak until the flavor is extracted. Leave to cool.
  2. Wash guavas and apples. Cut into strips. Seed the guavas.
  3. Pour soaked plums with the liquid from step (1) into cold boiled water. (There must be enough water to cover guavas.) Add sugar, salt and plum wine. Add guavas and apples. Marinate for more than 12 hours. Transfer fruits to a serving plate. Pour some of the marinades on top and serve.


  • Use hard guavas. Ripe guavas tend to turn even softer and lose the crunchiness after marinated.
