As a TV celebrity, author of 6 best-selling cook books to date, food critic, lifestyle commentator, television artist, and one of Asia’s best loved cooking instructors, Jacky has articulated how our lifestyles can be inspired by food as an extension to our artistic expression.
Jacky was selected by Asia Inc as one of Asia’s top movers and shakers. The list included Yao Ming, Richard Li (Li Ka Shing’s son) and Michele Yeoh. This has served to affirm Jacky’s creative genius, and validates his contributions to Hong Kong and the culinary industry. Together with his best-selling cook books in the market and a captive international customer list, Jacky’s fame also extends beyond his restaurants.
In addition, Jacky is also a television artist, having hosted the 3 prime-time television series “Gourmet Power Zoom” for TVB featuring over 30 editions, which was rated as one of the most-watched top ten programmers in Hong Kong. Jacky also frequently features on talk-shows, appears as guest star on many primetime cooking shows, and writes regularly for some of Hong Kong’s leading periodicals and newspapers. He was selected by the food expo event Bocuse D’or to represent China in an exhibition at Lyons alongside some of the greatest master chefs in the world include Pierre Hermes. In a publication by Phaidon, he was selected as one of the world’s top ten master chefs among who include Gordon Ramsay and Alan Duccase.
In 2005, Xi Yan opened its doors as a private dining restaurant at Craig Road in Singapore, serving contemporary Asian cuisine with an emphasis on quality and creativity. At Xi Yan, we believe in the concept of food as art, appealing not only to our sense of taste, but also to our sight through creative presentation.
Only the freshest of ingredients are used each day as preparation is specific to the number of reserved guests. Only Chef set menus are served. These are carefully arranged by our Chefs and is changed on a weekly basis. We do not use MSG nor lard in the preparation of our cuisines at Xi Yan. Reservation is required.
